Democrats Come Together to Laud
Jim Moran’s Outstanding Service

FALLS CHURCH, Virginia – The political leaders of the Democratic Committees of the City of Alexandria, Arlington County and Fairfax County join together to thank Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA8) for his years of outstanding service. Jim Moran has served the 8th Congressional District, which spans all three jurisdictions, for the last 23 years.
Suchada (“Sue”) Langley, Chair of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC), commented, “Jim Moran has been a ‘Liberal Lion’ in Congress, constantly fighting for the people of his district. He remained true to his beliefs that everyone is a person of value and deserves a chance to achieve the American Dream. As a senior member of Congress, he has been instrumental in obtaining funding for key initiatives like the Metro system and the relocation of military facilities through the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)  process. He will be sorely missed. I am confident that his legacy will be carried forward by his Democratic successor.”
Clarence Tong, Chair of the Alexandria Democratic Committee (ADC), noted “Today is a sad day for Alexandria. Congressman Moran has been a great political leader and institution in the City of Alexandria. He served on the Alexandria City Council and as Mayor until running for Congress in 1990, winning an up-hill race against a favored Republican incumbent. During his time in Congress, Moran has been a vocal, active champion for progressive policies. The Alexandria Democratic Committee thanks Congressman Moran for his distinguished service. He will be missed and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Kip Malinosky, Chair of the Arlington County Democratic Committee (ACDC), said “Congressman Jim Moran has been a champion for Democratic values in Congress for the last 23 years. He has fought against ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’, the Defense of Marriage Act, and the Iraq war. He has fought for federal employees, gun safety issues, women’s reproductive rights, a better environment and more humane treatment of animals. Moran’s service and dedication will be greatly missed.”
