Abe & Lilyan Spero Fund Awards Its First Grant to the GMU Democrats

Following the guidelines set forth by Abe and Lilyan Spero in their bequest to the Fairfax County Democratic Committee, a memorial fund has been set up to help groups or individuals register young voters in Fairfax County. The committee charged with awarding and dispersing these funds, contributed by the Speros and other generous Democrats, is proud to announce its first award in the amount of $1,822.48 to the George Mason University Democrats.
Megan Adamczewski, co-president of the GMU Democrats, submitted an application on behalf of the club that met all of the eligibility criteria and outlined the groups plans for using the money to grow their group on campus and register young voters. Post-registration deadline, the GMU Dems plan to continue their work by educating students on their voting rights and getting those newly registered voters to the polls on campus!
Adamczewski responded to the award on behalf of the club by saying, “We are working incredibly hard to get the Democratic ticket elected in November, and this funding will remove a huge burden and allow us to expand our GOTV effort.”
The Spero Fund Committee is proud of the George Mason University Democrats, and the work they did on campus in Fairfax County to help elect our Demcratic ticket last November.

The Abe and Lilyan Spero Fund still has monies available this fiscal year for eligible individuals and groups. View and download the application requirements and criteria for the Spero Award Fund and apply. But time is running out, so apply now if you want to make a difference in this election cycle! If you know of groups that may be eligible, let them know of this great opportunity.
