Organizations that are working on the border
RAICES
One organization that works with parents in detention centers in Texas is RAICES – they have a bond fund to help reunite families and fight their cases from the outside. You can support that bond fund here.
Border Network for Human Rights
BNHR is an immigration reform and human rights advocacy group. It is a grassroots organizer with a large membership and many capabilities, currently focusing on the nation-wide push for just immigration reform. The organization also releases useful reports, including annual documentation of abuses in the border.
Coalición de Derechos Humanos
The Coalición is a grassroots organization that promotes human and civil rights of immigrants, fighting border militarization and migrant abuses. Derechos Humanos acts to influence public policy and opinion on immigration. Its bilingual website has useful resources for immigrants and advocates, such as ‘Know Your Rights’ cards, an abuse report hotline, and updated information on Arizona migrant deaths.
Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project
The Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP) aims to “prevent wrongful deportations by connecting refugee families to community support and emergency legal aid.” The volunteer organization is looking for donations to help support the legal services it provides asylum seekers; it’s also seeking volunteer attorneys and interpreters. Since 2015, ASAP has stopped more than 400 refugees from being deported from 30 states.

Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition
The Coalition is a non-profit organization that provides legal assistance to detained immigrants in the DC/Virginia/Maryland area to help keep families together and information to immigrants about their rights and cases.
Just Neighbors
Just Neighbors works to provide low-income immigrants with legal assistance, help people gain work approval, and unite families. This resource provides many programs and aids to assist and welcome immigrants in the Northern VA region.
Kids in Need of Defense
KIND provides assistance in Washington DC as well as Northern Virginia. KIND works to give children high-quality representation in immigration court promotes fair and humane laws and provides social services.
