Fairfax Democrats Congratulate Senator-Elect Jennifer Wexton
FALLS CHURCH – Democrats in Fairfax County congratulated Senator-Elect Jennifer Wexton on her solid victory in the special election for the 33rd District seat.
“On behalf of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC), I’d like to congratulate Senator-Elect Jennifer Wexton on her decisive victory,” stated Sue Langley, FCDC Chairwoman. “We are delighted that we will have Senator Wexton representing us in the Herndon and Chantilly area. I know that Jennifer will continue the Mark Herring tradition of fighting for women’s rights, and advocating for fairness and equality in the State Senate.”
Sharon Bulova, Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, said, “I’m so pleased about Jennifer Wexton’s victory. She will be a fantastic representative for us in Northern Virginia – a great addition to the team!”
Fairfax Democrats joined the campaign effort to elect Wexton after she secured the nomination in late November. 33rd District precincts in the Town of Herndon and surrounding areas came out in large margins for the Democratic candidate.
“I’d like to thank our volunteers for their dedication under these severe weather conditions,” said Langley. “As a volunteer organization we depend on them more than ever, especially in hard-fought races like this one.”
FCDC organized volunteers for canvassing, making phone calls and covering precincts in the 33rd District. The organization also provided financial and logistical support, and helped to remind voters to come out to support Wexton.
