Statement: For over a decade Sue Langley has fought for Democratic candidates at all levels of government– public education, universal healthcare, immigration reform, better gun laws, and women rights. Sue has been the FCDC Chair since 2014. Sue is a member of the State Central Committee from the 11th Congressional District and FCDC Precinct Captain in Hunter Mill District. Sue served as FCDC Precinct Operations Vice Chair 2006-11, and as OFA’s NTL in 2012, leading a team of volunteers registered voters, organizing phone banks, canvasses, and GOTV from her home to help re-elect President Obama. Non-political accomplishment—with headquarter search team, successfully negotiated and secured FCDC new headquarter that resulted in larger space, lower rent, improved technology, and save more than $50,000 for FCDC. Others: Serving as the Fairfax County Small Business Commission 2013-14; a representative for 2013 School Bonds Committee. Sue received Ph. D in economics from Iowa State University and postgraduate training from Georgetown University.
Nancy Rice for FCDC Chair

Statement: I am running for this office because I believe I can refocus us from conflict and contention to consensus and collegiality.
FCDC is the foundation upon which our candidates lean when they are running for office. We need to work both strategically and short term to ensure that we are even stronger more vital and more skilled both now and for elections in the future. We need to, work hard to retain membership and develop and implement plans to increase our numbers.
If you elect me Chairperson, I will work to restore coordination, consensus and respect within the Steering Committee, Standing Committees and the Committee at large, as well as to build the membership and treasury back up.
Dan Lagana for Vice Chair South

Statement: I am a Fairfax County native, an Iraq War veteran, and have worked on political campaigns for the past three years. Most recently, I managed Kathy Smith’s successful race for Sully District Supervisor.
I will add an important and unique perspective to FCDC.
The enthusiasm generated by the 2016 presidential campaign should serve as a vehicle for the 2017 gubernatorial race in terms of increasing FCDC membership and fundraising, as well as improving data.
We can accomplish this by making ourselves a part of the presidential campaign. Our ability to recruit new members will rest on our volunteering and involvement with the campaign. The next governor will preside over redistricting in 2020.
I believe that focusing on incumbent local Republicans through targeted digital content—for example, running Facebook advertisements to specific people during periods of peak usage, such as a presidential debate—can compliment efforts to bolster our party’s profile, build awareness, and maintain pressure out of the local campaign season.”
Morgan Jameson for Vice Chair Central

Statement: I am a Democrat who has been volunteering for nearly two decades. When I was eight, I knocked on my first door for Don Beyer. For the Fairfax Young Democrats, I have been both Political Director and President. On the Virginia level, I have been the Treasurer, and I am now the National Committeeman. In Young Democrats of America, I was the Finance Director, and I am currently the Deputy Treasurer.
As FCDC Vice Chair Central, I’d like us to measure our success by establishing benchmarks and goals and having quantifiable objectives and the ability to measure them for our various activities. This will permit us to streamline and evaluate our progress. Results may vary from precinct to precinct, district to district, and committee to committee. However, we will be able to analyze and share best practices to truly become the most efficient, welcoming, and productive FCDC we can be.
Christopher Schäffer for Vice Chair Central
Email
Statement: As the current Chair of the Braddock District Committee, I have the experience to fulfill the role of Vice Chair Central. While most of the duties of Vice Chair revolve around the joint campaign, I’d like to spend the earlier part of 2016 capitalizing on the Presidential campaigns to build up our Party in advance of the gubernatorial elections of 2017. By actively engaging with the Presidential campaign volunteers and introducing them to FCDC during this year, we can more easily recruit them for the off year elections. I will work with the Districts to organize no cost or low cost activities and invite these volunteers to meet us and see what we are all about. Waiting until after the election is over to contact these people will be too late: We need to be proactive. I have the experience and vision to build up our Party structure, and I ask for your vote on January 5, 2016 so I can do that.
Jayant A. Reddy for Vice Chair North

Statement: I seek your vote for Vice Chair North. I’m Dranesville Vice Chair for Precinct Ops, a 4-year FCDC member and precinct captain, and 7-year frequent volunteer and donor. Regional Vice Chairs and volunteers do excellent work in joint campaigning and deserve great credit. But local candidates often lack resources to build campaign infrastructure and rely on a patchwork quilt of individual or collective activity. We can explore helping candidates build infrastructure and better make contact with emerging voters who have turned Fairfax County from purple to blue over the years, including learning from partners in other jurisdictions. I am among our emerging voters: I’m an Iowa-born son of immigrants from India. I’m an active public school parent, as a past PTA Treasurer and ongoing volunteer. I’m a homeowner, taxpayer, single dad of three, and was raised by a single mom, and know the struggles of single-parent life. I’m an attorney who, like many voters, fights through traffic to reach a job in D.C. And I’m a 20-year union member.
Sue Rosenberg for Vice Chair North

Statement: Vote for Sue Rosenberg for Vice Chair North
The road to the White House and the road to the State House depend on a big Democratic win in Fairfax County, and I have a proven record of accomplishment and the drive to get the job done. I will
Build on the successes of the 2105 election
• Increasing the Democratic vote in western Fairfax County
• Promoting absentee voting, both in person and by mail
• Coordinating with both the campaigns and the mag districts to get our candidates’ message out to voters
Reach out to infrequent voters with neighbor-to-neighbor contacts.
The Regional Vice Chairs are responsible for the Joint Campaign, liaison to Democratic candidate campaigns, and assisting magisterial district committees. For the 2015 election I played a major role in the Joint Campaign, I have established relationships with the three Congressional campaigns, and as a former Chair of the Dranesville District Democratic Committee, I am familiar with mag district issues.
I am retired, so I can devote all my time to the job.
Susan Johnson for Vice Chair Precinct Operations
Email
Statement: My name is Susan Johnson, and I am running for re-election as Vice-Chair of Precinct Operations. My background as a committed grassroots volunteer is ideal for this job. I adore canvassing and making calls for Democrats. I left my teaching career to become a professional political organizer, and have since worked on the field staffs of four political campaigns. I know the VAN like it’s my job (because it has been)! In other words, I know how to recruit, train, and retain volunteers to get Democrats elected.
My ultimate goal is to have FCDC precinct operations synonymous with Democratic volunteerism in Fairfax County. However, I recognize that every district has its own style, and I am committed to working with each district individually. My first year with precinct ops went well, but there is so much more we can do to win elections and engage more people in the process.
Bryan Graham for Vice Chair Technology
Email

Twitter: @BryanGrahamVA
Statement: I have extensive professional experience as an Information Technology consultant, resulting in successful and strategic adoption of technology for government clients for over ten years. My experience is greater than that, from working at a small software company in high school, working at the university help desk, implementing custom developed software solutions, managing technology projects, and analyzing the business needs of my clients. I can and have applied this experience to FCDC having redesigned our website (FairfaxDemocrats.org), completed phone and network wiring in the new FCDC office, and through involvement on the technology committee since 2010. I am currently honored to serve as the Sully District Chair for FCDC, and would be honored to serve as the Vice Chair of Technology.
Janice Yohai for Vice Chair Voter Registration & Education
Email
Statement: I ask for your vote as Vice Chair: Voter Reg and Education. I promise to continue our mission: register likely dems and motivate them to vote. The typical registrant is a first-time voter, and welcomes our guidance. We simplify the process, instill confidence, know-how, and the motivation to vote — and vote early.
We are Successful: I have largely been responsible for ~10,000 voter regs from likely dems over the years. This past off-off year, my fabulous team helped collect ~945 voter regs at GMU and ~348 at NOVA.
Knowledge: We know where to find dems. We are well-known on college campuses, at naturalization ceremonies, and cultural events/fairs.
I am Passionate about this field. Recipient of the 2014 Barbara Varon Award for showing appreciation for our community’s diversity, and conducting voter reg drives. This year: the DPVA Grassroots Award, 11th Congressional District for my efforts.
Our efforts are multiplied by working with others: GMU’s College Dems & admin, NOVA’s faculty & Board Member, Local Officials….
We use limited resources (volunteers) wisely: Train, encourage ideas, support with materials and transportation – ensuring volunteers’ success.
Again, I thank you for your vote of confidence.
Janice Yohai
Christopher Ambrose for Vice Chair Finance
Email: finance@fairfaxdemocrats.org
Statement: I am running for another term as FCDC Vice-Chair Finance. We have an important two years ahead. In the 2016 Presidential race, we Fairfax democrats find ourselves in the most important county in one of the three most import states. The votes in Fairfax County could be decisive to a Virginia victory for our Presidential nominee and Virginia could be the swing state that elects the next President.
In 2017, we will need to raise the funds to help generate the turnout to deliver the huge margins in Fairfax County that our Democratic statewide candidates have come to rely on. We also will need the resources to compete for the last three House of Delegate seats held by Republicans in Fairfax County. We picked up two seats from the Republicans in 2015, but we still need to take the last three.
I ask for your vote to continue the track record we have had of a successful fundraising program to elect Democrats in Fairfax County.
P.S. Please put the January 10th Road to Richmond Brunch and the February 21st Blue Jeans Ball on your calendar!
Rose Chu for Vice Chair Outreach
Email
Statement: I am running for re-election for Vice Chair for Outreach. I have organized volunteers for Celebrate Fairfax, KidsFest, and numerous ethnic festivals to showcase Democratic candidates and issues. I have put together sample ballots, lapel stickers, and flyers in multiple languages (Arabic, Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese) for FCDC and campaigns and worked with the FCDC Voter Registration Committee.
2016 and 2017 are extremely important election years. I plan to work with all the FCDC committees to coordinate effects on outreach. For instance, I have attended the meetings of the Women’s Rights and Veterans committees, which I will help become more active. I will continue to improve identification of Hispanic, East Asian, and South Asian voters in the VAN for campaign targeting.
Lola Quintela for Corresponding Secretary
Email
Emilie Larson for Recording Secretary
Email
facebook.com/emilie.larson.33
Statement: I am a member of the Hunter Mill District portion of the FCDC and have a broad view of FCDC operations. I was Chair of Hunter Mill District twice, Vice Chair of FCDC Precinct Operations once, and served on the 11th District Congressional Committee for eight years. I have also served as a campaign manager and a campaign treasurer. In the past year I have retired from paid employment and thus expect to have the time and energy to take minutes for the County Committee and Steering Committee meetings, distribute those minutes, and do the stuff we expect of a Recording Secretary. I want to contribute to a stellar FCDC performance in the upcoming presidential and gubernatorial election years. Fairfax County is capable of turning out terrific vote margins on election day, and our secretary can oil the machine that produces those results.
Nadja Golding for Treasurer
Email
Statement: Dear FCDC Members,
It’s been an honor to serve you as Treasurer for the past six years, and I am asking you for your votes for another term.
As Treasurer, I spend 20 to 30 hours a week keeping the books of FCDC and our 9 District Committees, ensuring that we are complying with legal requirements, and filing reports with the Federal Election Commission and the Virginia State Board of Elections. I have recruited a small but skilled and dedicated group of volunteers to help me with this work.
I am proud to have developed a transparent and consistent system for reporting our financial data, so that you can be confident that the numbers you see in my Treasurer’s reports are accurate and able to be tracked from year to year. I have also put in place safeguards to the degree that I can to ensure that any malfeasance would be quickly detected.
I am looking forward to continuing to serve you during this exciting presidential year and beyond.
Nadja Golding
Robert Yuen-Pai Tsien for Assistant Treasurer
Email
Statement: I seek to be Assistant Treasurer. I have the commitment and experience to serve FCDC well.
I have been a life-long Democrat and a significant contributor to Democratic Party committees and candidates at all levels, including FCDC. AAPI participation is a focus. This year, I campaigned extensively for Supervisor-elect Kathy Smith and serve on her transition team. I know first-hand the value of FCDC’s sample ballots and other activities.
I have enjoyed a 30+ year career in the financial services industry. Last year, I retired from Freddie Mac after 14 years as a SVP, including being Treasurer of its PAC. I have served as a Community Member on the Inova Healthcare Services Board since 2006 and as current Chairman of the Fairfax Hospital Quality Board.
In sum, I have proven executive skills, I am good with numbers, and I understand the job. I ask for your vote. Thank you.
