Democrats Choose Three For Fairfax Congressional Races
Democrats have selected their nominees in the 8th, 10th, and 11th congressional districts, each of which encompasses parts of Fairfax County.
Incumbent Representative Jim Moran is again the Democratic nominee for the 8th congressional district. Rep. Moran was first elected to the Congress in 1994. A past mayor of Alexandria, Rep. Moran is now a senior member of the Appropriations Committee and Chair of the Subcommittee on the Interior and Environment and also serves on the Defense, and Labor, Health and Human Services Subcommittees.
Representative Gerry Connolly is seeking his second term in Congress as the Democratic nominee in the 11th congressional district. A former Chairman and member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Rep. Connolly has served our community for more than 15 years during which he has consistently delivered real results on transportation, jobs, education, and other areas of vital importance to Fairfax County.
Jeff Barnett is the Democratic nominee in the 10th congressional district to replace Republican Frank Wolf. A first time candidate, Mr. Barnett is running for Congress after a career in public service in the United States Air Force. He is emphasizing economic growth while keeping families in their homes, job creation, transportation, and national security. Mr. Barnett lives in McLean.
