Hillary Sets Records & Obama Takes The Helm
Since 1992, Hillary Clinton has been punching bag for Republicans, the press, and other candidates. Each time she got knocked down, she got right up and kept on fighting. Her tenacity, preseverance, and her ability to soldier on has been truly remarkable. No one has been tougher and fought harder.
The other day, my daughter Eva (age 7) told me she supported Hillary. Because of her, my 7 and 5 year-old daughters think they can be president and they have never known a race where there was not a major woman candidate. They will also never know a race where an African-American has not been our candidate.
These are historic times.
Hillary’s value and impact has been broader than just being a woman and an historic figure. Hillary elevated the discussion of issues. Her passion and ability to speak about healthcare elevated the debate. As Ross Perot focused the country on the deficit – Hillary has focused us on solving healthcare. Because of her work, healthcare will be on the front burner in 2009.
It is now time to unite to fight our opponent. Hillary, Barack, and all of us in the Democratic Party share common goals. We will all work together because we all believe in THE SAME IDEAS. What has always set the Democratic Party apart from the Republicans is that we are the party of diversity, inclusion, and tolerance. Our issues cut across race, region, and gender. We are the party with the Big Tent. Dissent and discussion does not divide us – it only makes us stronger.
LET US UNITE AND CHANGE OUR COUNTRY!
