Pre-Filing Deadline for State & Congressional District Delegate and Alternate Candidates
The Fairfax County Democratic Committee must issue the Call to Caucus to elect delegates and alternates to three Congressional District Democratic Conventions (8th, 10th, and 11th) and the Virginia Democratic State Convention. The caucus is scheduled for April 20 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM; the caucus may be canceled by the Fairfax County Democratic Committee if there is not a contested caucus. This cancellation will be announced within one day after the filing deadline for candidates to register.
Any Democrat wishing to be a Delegate or Alternate to a Congressional District Convention and the Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) Convention (DPVA Call to Convention) must place their names on the ballot for the Fairfax County Democratic Committee Caucus by pre-filing their candidacy by 5:00 p.m. April 13, 2024. There is an optional $25 filing fee; proceeds are shared with local, district, and state committees. (PRO TIP: A Democrat who wants to be a National Delegate, National Alternate, or Presidential Elector should also pre-file to be a State & Congressional Delegate.)

- 10th Congressional District Democratic Committee: 10:00 AM, May 11th, 2024, at Marshall Community Center, 4133-A, Rectortown Rd, Marshall.
- 11th Congressional District Democratic Committee (Call to Convention): 10:00 AM, May 11th, 2024, at Luther Jackson Middle School, 3020 Gallows Rd, Falls Church.
Virginia Democratic Convention (DPVA Call to Convention):
- 10:00 AM, June 22nd, 2024, at Greater Richmond Convention Center – Grand Ballroom, 403 North Third St, Richmond.
Democratic National Convention (DNC Call to Convention):
- Monday, August 19 through Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Chicago (DNC website).
